Produced for the Welsh-language TV channel S4C, “Ar y Lein“ (“On the Line“) is a documentary travelogue of an overland eastward circumnavigation of the world roughly following the 52 degrees north line of latitude. Kari Syysmäki, a Finnish Businessman is on a vacation with his wife in Tallinn. When his wife is away a young man enters their hotel room with a gun. He tells to the businessman that he has just tried to rob a bank, but accidentally shot one of the clerks. Now he's hiding from the cops. But when the bank robber forgets his gun on the table, Syysmäki grabs it and shoots him in the back. After that Syysmäki refuses to travel back to Finland with his wife. He stays in Tallinn and soon he's about to face both the cops and the mob of Estonia.

This is a documentary about the people living in barracks in Reykjavik from the year 1940 till 1970. This is an important chapter in Reykjavik history and for the national as whole. The Icelandic community turned from the farm life to a urban city in a very short period of time and these barrack communities were an example about this tremendous growth in the city. Here we see the barracks put in a perspective as a historic event that depicts the various livelihood of people in the growing city. We follow people that actually lived in these barracks and hear what they have to say and experienced in these times.
